Prime Minister's Office: Kentera dismissed for non-compliance with the ANB law

"Vijesti" was told by the Prime Minister's Office that the Acting Director of the National Security Agency (ANB) Savo Kentera was dismissed for non-compliance with Article 6 of the Law on the National Security Agency.

That article defines the competences of the ANB, and, among other things, it is stipulated that "the Agency carries out counterintelligence protection of the Parliament of Montenegro, the Government of Montenegro, the President of Montenegro, other state bodies, ministries and administrative bodies, which includes activities of importance for security certain persons and workplaces in these bodies, as well as the facilities, equipment and spaces they use".

"The Agency collects, records, analyzes, evaluates, uses, exchanges, stores and protects data: on activities directed against the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and legal order of Montenegro established by the Constitution; of importance for the defense interests of Montenegro and the fulfillment of strategic security goals and interests... The Agency carries out security checks, as well as other tasks of interest to national security, in accordance with the law. The Agency reports on the data from paragraph 1 of this article to the President of Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Montenegro and the President of the Parliament of Montenegro." it is written in Article 6 of the law.

The Agency reports on this data, as provided by the Law, to the Council for Defense and Security, as well as to the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, and to other authorities, the Agency reports on data related to their jurisdiction when reasons of national security dictate.
