From October 7 to 25, the border police seized about 183 kilograms (kg) of marijuana and 303 kg of cut tobacco in the border zone with Albania.
The Police Administration announced that on October 7, officers of the border police spotted three people who were transporting open sacks on cargo trucks.
According to the police, after that, those three people met with two others, who loaded the sacks into a passenger vehicle.
"When they saw the official vehicles of the police, the people started to throw away the sacks," the statement said.
It is stated that members of the police found and seized 40 PVC packages of marijuana, weighing about 40 kg, as well as 600 packages of cut tobacco, weighing about 303 kg.
According to the police, NG (30) and AS (28) from Tuzi were found on the spot.
It is stated that the Podgorica police informed the state prosecutor of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica about the incident, who ordered that NG be arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
"While the state prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica ordered that a criminal complaint be filed against AS and NG due to the suspicion that they committed the crime of smuggling as accomplices," said the police.
As they stated, on October 12, the border police found two discarded sacks and a bag containing 76 packages of marijuana, with a total weight of about 76 kg.
The police said that measures and actions are being taken in order to identify the persons who discarded the drug.
"In addition, in the activity carried out on October 25, which was aimed at suppressing narcotics across Lake Skadar from Albania to Montenegro, in the coastal area the police found five sacks containing 67 packages of marijuana," the statement said.
