After claims by Montenegrin football player Damir Kojašević that several police officers attacked for no reason on Friday, November 30, the Independent Police Union announced.
They said that when a Montenegrin puts on a police uniform, he is immediately convicted, whether he is guilty or not.
"Some political parties, some non-governmental organizations, some people from the social margins in general, give themselves the right to heat up the atmosphere and judge and judge without a court or procedure. As soon as he was a policeman, he condemned himself," according to the statement of the Independent Police Union, which signed by President Igor Rmandić.
They said that it can't be like that.
"If we were to be guided by their logic and observe things exclusively "from the shoes" of police officers, here is what we could conclude from the video recording that occupied the public in the past few days," they said.
According to them, we could see a person who does not follow the orders of a police officer and refuses to cooperate.
Refusal to, as they say, turn towards the vehicle and get into position for inspection, turning away from the vehicle on your own initiative, waving your hand in the direction of the police officer's head, opening the door of the vehicle from which he can take a weapon, trying to move away from the vehicle, all of these are , as they point out, things that can make a police officer feel threatened and upset.
"A person being controlled and refusing to cooperate is, in a high percentage, a potential danger for the police officer. Experience teaches us that. If we were the same as people who judge without a court, they would say that the person from the video in the above situation refused the order, obstructed and belittled authorized persons in the performance of their official duties, attacked police officers. We could do a lot more, but our conscience and sense of social responsibility do not allow us to do that," said the union.
They point out that the Police Directorate says in vain that it will conduct an impartial investigation of the entire case, after which it will make a decision within its jurisdiction.
Many, as they say, don't want to hear that.
"Why clarify the water when the best fishing is in the cloudy?", they said.
They point out that all those "wise heads" who want a political or some other point, while not shying away from even mentioning "the return of the nineties", know very well that for everything there must be a legal procedure, procedural actions, establishment of facts and only then a verdict.
It is very clear that whoever is found guilty, as he says, should be held accountable regardless of whether he wears a uniform, plays football or earns his bread by doing any other job.
They said that instead of just talking about how much we love Montenegro, it would be good to show that love.
"And what better way than by respecting the regulations of one's own country, in this case the Constitution and the presumption of innocence that it prescribes," concluded the Nezasivni Police Union.
