One of the leaders of the Democratic Front (DF), Milan Knežević, said that today's attack on him was politically motivated.
Knežević was attacked today at the Podgorica Airport, after which he filed a report at the Podgorica Security Center.
"Accompanied by a driver and a member of security, I came to the airport to wait for my wife who had arrived from Belgrade. In the parking lot, while I was sitting in the car, a young man from a car with Cetinje registrations approached me and started insulting me and making negative comments. The young man never I never saw or had contact with him in my life, and after the verbal attack on me, I lowered the glass and asked him what the problem was, after which he continued to insult me," said Knežević.
He explained that his driver and he assessed that there could be physical contact and that he could be physically threatened.
"Yesterday, I received a threat on Facebook that it's lucky that I'm still alive because I'm an enemy of Montenegro and because I'm targeted on various portals as an enemy of Montenegro and an associate of various services, my driver reacted in time and stopped the physical attack on me. I thank him, because I don't know how it could have ended," Knežević said.
He repeated that it was a politically motivated attack and that he had never seen the young man before.
"I didn't provoke the incident in any way, but I tried to avoid it as much as possible. The verbal insults and insults lasted much longer than I reacted," Knežević said.
He recalled that he asked to carry a weapon because his safety was threatened.
"But the authorities say that this is not possible because criminal proceedings are being conducted against me. I am now announcing to everyone that starting tonight, I and the security guard will carry weapons because we feel threatened," Knežević said.
The police have not yet announced anything about this case.
