We are impatiently waiting to see if the attitude of the state and state authorities towards police officers changes. Will we finally get the protection we deserve and will we finally see a clear and firm response from the state? If an attack on a police officer is an attack on the state, we fully expect that all those who can contribute to the investigation of this case will be involved.
This is stated in the announcement of the Independent Police Association, which was signed by President Igor Rmandić, and after last night's bomb attack on the policeman's house in Berane.
"We have all changed the year we live in, but unfortunately some have retained their old, bad habits from the past. Arrogance and aggression stemming from a sense of superiority and supremacy over the state in some people obviously do not change. The attack on a police officer that happened last night in Berane confirms that," adds the Independent Police Union.

They state that the state must show that it is stronger than criminals and that their sense of superiority is only a short-lived illusion.
"Their return to reality must be quick and efficient, their punishments must be as severe as possible so that the 'lesson' is learned the first time. Otherwise, an unprotected policeman means an unprotected citizen. An unprotected citizen means complete insecurity of people and their property, the state of which no one feels comfortable with, because this is how the state shows its powerlessness. No one on this side of the law wants such a scenario. We want a strong, safe and stable state that will be the shield of every honest citizen of this country," say the NSP.
The insidious and cowardly attack on their colleague in Berane, as they say, will not shake honest and honorable police officers in the fight against crime.
"We are ready and willing to respond to any task that is set before us, protecting ourselves and all peaceful citizens in this society and their property. An attack on any policeman is an attack on all of us and things like this only unite us. They will not scare us, because fear is not a trait that is cultivated in our business. We are not afraid of the fight that is ahead of us, the only question is whether we will have support in that fight," the statement reads.
They add that another in a series of attacks on a police officer shows them all the correctness of the actions of the Independent Police Union, which for months has been calling for a firm and energetic reaction from all state authorities in order to protect police officers and prevent any type of attack.
"Each attack should be responded to with the most consistent and strictest application of the law and thus prevent future attacks. The police, prosecutorial and judicial organizations must stand in a solid, common front that will be an effective and safe protection for this country and this people. We do not live in delusion that this will be the last statement about the attack on police officers that we write, but we sincerely hope that there will be fewer and fewer of them", they conclude in the statement.
