Detainee Nikola Bogojević (27) was injured in a fight in the room of the Investigation Prison, the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions told Vijesti unofficially. Allegedly, he was beaten by his roommate from the prison Zeljko Ivanovic.
According to the same information, Bogojević's nose was broken, and he received other injuries in the head area.
After the incident, he received medical help - first in the Investigation Prison, and then in the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
Interlocutors from UIKS claim that the injured detainee did not want to tell the prison officers who injured him and how.
The management of that institution reported the incident to the Police Directorate, i.e. their Security Department in Danilovgrad, whose officers will determine what happened in the room of the Investigation Prison on the first day of 2023.
The Police Administration pointed out that, after receiving a report from UIKS, they informed the acting prosecutor about the incident.
"All measures and actions are being taken to establish the facts and shed light on the mentioned event," said the UP.
Several sources from the UIKS told the news that the operational information of the officials of that institution, as well as the management, say that Bogojević and his roommate Ivanović first quarreled, and then physically fought.
They add that Bogojević got the upper hand in the fight.
"None of them, however, wanted to tell what happened. The police administration is conducting an investigation, and we will, within our competences, initiate appropriate procedures", said the UIKS.
Bogojević is accused of killing on September 26, 2019 in Podgorica Branko Vučković.
He has been in custody since October of that year, when he was arrested.
Ivanović, the arrested head of the Department for Prevention of Smuggling of the Revenue and Customs Administration, has been in custody for three months. He was handcuffed in the investigation of cigarette smuggling.
