Green Home regarding threats to activists from Žabljak: You are not alone, the environmental sector has never been stronger and more determined

The NGO Green Home announced that it strongly condemns the threats directed at an environmental activist from Žabljak, because he reported wild, illegal constructions in the first protection zone in the "Durmtior" national park.

"In this way, we want to encourage all those who witness the destruction of nature and disobeying the law to speak about it publicly and to report it to the competent institutions, because they will not be alone in this. The ecological sector has never been stronger and more determined to fight for the preservation of nature." , they say from the NGO Green Home.

They state that illegal construction is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment from six months to five years.

"The Government of Montenegro and the Directorate for Inspection Affairs must organize the work of the inspection services in such a way as to ensure their adequate functioning even during holidays. It is unacceptable that facilities in the strictest protection zone are built on weekends and during holidays, and that the institutions do not find a way to they react the same," said this NGO.

Green Home concludes that due to the inaction and inefficiency of state services, environmental activists, members of organizations and individuals who raise their voices for the protection and preservation of nature in Montenegro are continuously exposed to threats and pressures.
