The senior state prosecutor in Podgorica, Tatjana Begović, will most likely be the new acting supreme state prosecutor, "Vijesti" has learned from several sources in the judiciary.
The name of the prosecutor Tatjana Begović, as claimed by "Vijesti" interlocutors, was the most acceptable to the majority of the members of the Prosecutorial Council, who during the break of the session agreed on who from the list of 43 names of Montenegrin prosecutors, who have more than 15 years of prosecutorial experience, could succeed Maja Jovanovic.
She will submit a written resignation to the Prosecutor's Council as a member of that body, but it is a matter of interpretation by members of the TS whether or not she will have a legal restriction on being elected to lead the prosecutor's organization in an acting mandate for the next six months, since this is not a new session of that body, but just a continuation of the session from Monday, February 6 this year.
Insiders claim that in the continuation of the session today, there will probably be a dispute among the members of the Prosecutor's Council about whether or not Begović's resignation can be accepted, because this is a continuation of the session that formally and legally started on Monday at 12 noon, and she participated in the work, expressed an opinion and voted on two candidates who applied to the informal public call of TS for the position of acting VDT.
On that day, as last year, Begović was clear that no one outside the prosecution organization should be the acting supreme state prosecutor, which is why she was against lawyer Milorad Miško Marković being appointed to that position.
On that day, she voted for her colleague - special prosecutor Sanja Jovićević.
Both candidates, Marković and Jovićević, did not have the necessary majority on Monday to be appointed as acting VDT, which is why the TS decided to stop the session, and then they scheduled the continuation for today at 14 pm.
They justified the interruption by the fact that they need time to familiarize themselves with the names of the prosecutors from the list of the Secretariat of the Prosecutorial Council.
The head of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, Duško Milanović, also had a good chance of being the first person in the acting mandate.
Tatjana Begović is a career prosecutor with almost twenty years of work in the prosecution organization. She started her career at the ODT Podgorica, and then progressed to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica.
In August 2021, she was elected as a representative of the prosecutor's organization in the Prosecutor's Council.
