A member of the Prosecutorial Council, Stevo Muk, said that he believes that the appointment of Tatjana Begović to the position of Acting Supreme State Prosecutor is against the spirit of the provisions of the State Prosecutor's Act.
That is why, he said, he was restrained when deciding on her appointment.
He emphasizes that the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office clearly stipulates that a member of the Prosecutorial Council from the ranks of state prosecutors cannot be elected to the position of head of the State Prosecutor's Office, nor can he advance during his term of office in the TS.
"I believe that in the previous case of Ms. Sanja Jovićević's candidacy, as well as in today's candidacy of Ms. Tanja Begović, there are no procedural, legal conditions to be appointed as acting supreme state prosecutor," he said after today's session.
Muk believes that this decision is contrary to the spirit and purpose of the provisions of the State Prosecutor's Office because, as he says, they exist to avoid situations like today.
"Unfortunately, other members of the Prosecutor's Council had a different opinion. It is the majority and that decision was made," concluded Muk.
