During the last year, 20 indictments were submitted to the Basic Court in Pljevlja against 22 persons accused of violence in the family or in the family community.
The president and spokeswoman of that court, Marina Jelovac, announced that in 14 cases a final decision was made, in one case it is not yet final, and five cases are ongoing.
She explained that in 14 final cases proceedings were initiated against 15 defendants.
"Of which one was sentenced to a prison sentence of four months, four to a prison sentence of three months, one to a single prison sentence of two months and 15 days, two to a prison sentence of one month, two to a prison sentence of 30 days, one to a prison sentence of 30 days, which will be served in the premises where the accused lives, a suspended sentence was imposed on two accused persons, a security measure was imposed on one person, mandatory psychiatric treatment at liberty and one person was acquitted," the announcement reads.
It was explained that in a case that is not final, one person was sentenced to a two-month prison sentence.
A year earlier, 10 indictments against 11 defendants were submitted to the Basic Court in Pljevlja.
