DM (28) and IP (36) were arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal fishing, the Police Administration (UP) announced.
The announcement states that the border police in the area of Skadar Lake, in two separate activities, seized 100 kilograms of lake fish as well as the means used for illegal fishing.
"In fact, yesterday the border police in Tuzi stopped DM (28) and IP (36) who found 20 kilograms of lake fish - carp, tools used for illegal fishing - batteries used for poaching with electricity using improvised probes, a lamp, as well as the outboard engine," the announcement states.
The UP added that the freshwater fisheries inspector IP issued an order for the payment of a fine of 1.000 euros, and the found objects and fish were confiscated.
"Members of the Podgorica police informed the state prosecutor of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica about the incident, who ordered that DM and IP be deprived of their liberty due to the suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of illegal fishing," said the UP.
They also announced that in the region of Gostiljska Rijeka, the border police controlled the vehicle driven by SP (22), in which around 80 kilograms of carp were found.
"Activities to determine the possible responsibility of this person are ongoing," the announcement concludes.
