The independent police union announced that Interior Minister Filip Adžić "doesn't have any contact points" with the security system of Montenegro.
That union spoke out about the physical harassment of Albanian citizens by border police officers Dragan Šćekić and Nikola Boljević at the Sukobin-Murićani border crossing.
"We have no intention of defending the action of our colleague in Ulcinj, because as responsible people we ourselves consider it unacceptable and reprehensible. We express our sincere regret for the event, but we do not want to remain silent about everything that is happening in relation to this case. A mistake was made and our colleague will inevitably make it to pay, we are all aware of that and we do not shy away from responsibility. There are clear case investigation procedures and a precise range of sanctions depending on the degree of guilt after responsibility has been determined. The only thing we ask and expect is that the procedure be carried out thoroughly, impartially and without premature conviction," he states. in a statement signed by the president of the Independent Trade Union, Igor Rmandić.
He added that "for much bigger and more serious crimes, they were not deprived of their liberty and detained, but the cars are obviously the easiest to break on police officers".
Rmandić claims that "strictness is trained very successfully" in police officers, as well as that at least half of society "celebrates when they read that a policeman has been detained without asking what the reason is".
"We cannot and will not allow seasoned politicians, self-proclaimed analysts, various 'human rights fighters' to light nationalistic fires and sow hatred using police officers, for the most mundane purposes. Police officers are not members of wild hordes who can't wait to harass someone who is of a different nationality In our ranks there are Montenegrins, Serbs, Bosniaks, Muslims, Albanians, Roma, and we are proud of that fact. It is the wealth of both the service and the state of Montenegro. We are fully aware of the weight of our work, the responsibility that this honorable uniform carries and are ready to We give the people and this country the most that a man can give to someone - his own life," said Rmandić.
He pointed out that Adžić is "a special figure and a huge disappointment for who knows how many times" and his, as he stated, "behavior did not match the situation".
"A random passer-by who, avoiding responsibility, was transferred from one position to another until he finally came to the head of the most numerous and largest part of the security apparatus of the state of Montenegro, with which he has absolutely no points of contact. To the great sorrow and harm of the members of that apparatus. While the policemen in the streets they walk in yellow, red or orange sneakers because they don't have official shoes, while they barely make ends meet, the minister laments in the media about the service and complains that there are dozens of police officers who are suspected of engaging in criminal activities and whom he cannot fire because of the law. Some of these policemen were pointed out to the minister by the Independent Police Union on several occasions, but the minister remained deaf to all the evidence and even presents these people as his best and closest collaborators. Therefore, it is not up to the minister's law."
Rmandić also states that Adžić "instead of calming tensions as the first person in the ministry, demanding respect for procedures and a detailed and impartial investigation of the entire case", on his Facebook profile, he "gloriously, almost exaltedly announced that 'the institutions have given an adequate response' and that ' arrested police officers who participated in the incident'".
"At the same time, the minister completely ignores what he said earlier regarding this same case. To be completely frank, the minister taught us in the previous period that he is not really inclined to preserve tradition, at least the part that was called given word among our Montenegrin ancestors. But , if we look at the bigger picture, we will get the answer to why this is so. The day before yesterday, during the day, an organization requested that Minister Adžić resign due to the events in Ulcinj, and he obviously took it very seriously. It was necessary to draw attention and show that something is being done regardless of price. And what are two, it must be admitted, completely needlessly arrested policemen compared to an armchair," said Rmandić.
He urged all well-wishers to work together to strengthen the integrity of police officers, educate and improve the overall security environment so that every citizen of this country feels safe and protected.
"For everyone else, we have a very clear message. We are telling malicious politicians, the NGO sector, various analysts and general practice experts, soul-sucking people who come out of their dark lairs only when it suits them, to leave this nation alone, not to rekindle the fires of nationalism and hatred. In this wonderful country, there is room for all well-intentioned people... The narrative about endangering anyone because they belong to a certain nation will not pass and those stories are no longer successful, they are a thing of the past," concluded Rmandić.
