Accused Beranac Rajko Božović (27) extended a hand of reconciliation to a fellow citizen yesterday Strahinja Janjić, whom he wounded on August 27 in Berane.
He did this in the courtroom of the High Court in Bijelo Polje, before which he is responsible for the criminal offense of attempted murder.
According to the indictment, on August 27 last year in Berane, Božović tried to take Janjić's life by firing several shots from a firearm in his direction, while the victim started to run away up the stairs of the solitaire.
As it is written, one of the projectiles hit Janjić in the area of the right upper leg, as a result of which he received a serious bodily injury - a gunshot wound.
Janjić accepted Božović's hand and agreed to reconciliation.
Božović said in the investigation that he was unable to present a defense due to his resentment and remorse for the crime committed.
During the proceedings, he pointed out that he would never have committed that criminal offense if he had not consumed alcohol that evening, unplanned, for which he expressed remorse. He did that yesterday in the courtroom, during the closing arguments.
State prosecutor Tanja Nišavić, she pointed out that the indictment was fully proven, opposing the mitigation of the sentence despite the reconciliation.
In the closing words, the prosecutor stuck to the indictment, and the defendant's defense attorney Dear Konatar, requested a mitigation of the sentence in view of reconciliation and sincere remorse, as well as the youth of the accused.
In his testimony, the injured party said yesterday that Božović cursed him before wounding him on August 27 last year.
In the investigation, Janjić said that the defendant approached the vehicle, saying: "This one is here", and then said to him: "I will shoot you, Ostroga mi".
However, he denied it yesterday and said that he stands by the latest allegations.
The verdict will be pronounced on March 3.
