The building that houses the premises of the Podgorica Basic Court, the Basic State Prosecutor's Office and the Misdemeanor Court has been under increased security measures since this morning.

At the entrance to the building, there are a large number of members of the Police Department searching everyone who enters, including lawyers, forensic experts and parties.

They use a hand-held X-ray machine to check whether someone is bringing in illegal devices and check the contents of bags.

In addition to the ground floor, members of the Police Administration are deployed on all floors of the building.

A large number of employees of the Montenegrin courts, prosecutor's office, lawyers, court experts, and citizens gathered in front of the Basic Court building in Podgorica as a sign of support for the employees in this building who are asking to be provided with safe working conditions.

The crowd was addressed by Milena Radulović, the mother of Marija Radulović, who was seriously injured on Friday, March 3, after Mladen Bulatović (39) from Podgorica probably activated a hand grenade at the entrance to the court building.

"I have no words for what happened to my child. It was hard for me when I heard... My child ended up the way it ended up. We have information that Maria is in a better condition, but until I see her with my own eyes and she comes home, nothing I can be sure that I don't even believe," said Milena Radulović.

Lawyer Veselin Radulović said that it is high time for state institutions to address the issue of security in buildings where judicial institutions are located.

"There was a murder of a judge in the Bar. Ten years ago there was a murder in the Misdemeanor Court and nothing was improved after those tragic events. Today the situation is not better... Unfortunately, what happened happened, it could have been worse consequences and it is high time that the institutions deal with this issue and bring the buildings in the judiciary to the condition they should be in, not only when it comes to security but also working conditions," Radulović said.

The Chamber of Public Executors supported colleagues employed in courts and state prosecutor's offices, as well as other independent legal professions, in their efforts to improve working conditions, primarily through raising the level of employee safety.

"All of us who apply the law in Montenegro almost every day witness unpleasant experiences with dissatisfied parties, which unfortunately sometimes turn out to be tragic. We call on the competent state authorities to protect us all with timely, efficient and preventive action and thereby enable us to perform entrusted public duties professionally and without pressure services. Dissatisfied parties always have certain legal means available to protect their rights and interests, so violence of any kind is not justified. Therefore, if we want a country with complete rule of law, the conditions in which we all work must be significantly better and safer, and our responsibility is unquestionable", concludes the statement of the Chamber of Public Executors.
