Bjelopoljac Ranko Rovčanin he was sentenced yesterday in the High Court in Bijelo Polje to a prison sentence of one year and 11 months for possession of drugs for the purpose of sale, illegal possession of weapons, and assault on an official in the performance of his official duties. Rovčanin was previously sentenced to the same prison term, but that sentence was annulled by the Appellate Court of Montenegro.
During the search of the house in Resnik on May 12, 2021, drugs and weapons were found in Rovčanin's possession, and during those activities, the indictment states, the defendant tried to physically attack police officers and sent them serious threats.
Rovčanin claimed that he was not guilty of the crime he was charged with, that he had never sold or used a single gram of drugs, that the police officers acted arrogantly when they broke into his family home without uniforms and a warrant, and that they terrified him after waking up. from a dream, as well as his minor son UR (16).
For the weapon that was found, he said that it came from his late father, who also inherited it. He said it was 170 years old.
The same was confirmed by his brothers and sister, claiming that after the death of their parents, none of them even knew that the weapon was in the attic of the common utility building without stairs, and the sister said that she thought that "the father gave that old thing to someone a long time ago".
During the search, police officers found and seized about 95 grams of cocaine, 50 Rivotril tablets, two hunting rifles, a revolver, ammunition and money in the amount of 7.630 euros.
According to the indictment, Rovčanin kept the drugs for resale.
