The municipal committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Budva announced that scary for everyone who lives in Budva, that the mayor Milo Božović is being linked to drug trafficking.
"The arrest of Milo Božović, the president of the Municipality of Budva, represents a very unpleasant fact for our city, its citizens. It is not the first time that the prosecution prosecutes one of the local officials of the DF for dealings with drugs, however, what is being done to the first man of the Municipality the charge - the creation of a criminal organization as well as the production, possession and placing on the market of narcotic drugs, represents one of the most serious criminal offenses and seems frightening in relation to the fact that just half a year ago, Božović won absolute power in Budva," according to the OO press release DPS Budva.
Respecting the presumption of innocence, they add, they believe that the possible association of Božović with serious criminal acts is disastrous for the image of the municipality.
"That is why we are carefully following the development of events, concerned about the reputation and status of the capital of Montenegrin tourism, whose first man has been labeled as a criminal and drug dealer. It is known to the local public that in recent years an environment has been created in Budva in which local powerful men mistreat employees of the Municipality and beat dissidents on the streets, and the devastating accusations that the drug cartel is running our city completely reveal the depth of our problem. We call on all political entities, including local government representatives, to face this new circumstance and to act responsibly in the coming days, and in the best interest of Budva and our citizens," the statement concludes
