Even after five years, the police and the prosecutor's office have not filed charges against those responsible for the attempted murder of the investigative journalist Oliver Lakic, who was wounded on May 8, 2018, at the entrance to the building where she lives, in Podgorica, nor did they say who ordered the attack.
A "Vijesti" source familiar with the investigation said yesterday that the Special Police Department (SPO) is nearing the end of the analysis of new evidence, including correspondence from the encrypted Sky ECC application, adding that these documents should be handed over to the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) in the coming days ).
That investigation is stalling despite nine months since the injury, on February 19, 2019, and just two days before the arrival of the then European Union (EU) Enlargement Commissioner. Johannes Hahn in Podgorica, the Police Directorate and the Prosecutor's Office organized a joint conference and announced that he was the organizer of the attack Filip Bešović, who allegedly followed but also shot at the journalist.
A day later, the Higher Prosecutor's Office submitted a request to conduct an investigation against - Filip Bešović, Marija Milošević, Filip Knežević, Goran Rakočević, Dejan Vukašinović, Luka Bulatović, Mijail Stojanović, Marinko Rajković i Sanje Božović, but in no part is it explicitly stated that it was the organizer of the association who shot the journalist.
At the end of 2020, the SDT announced that a group of defendants in Spuša prison arranged the murder of Olivera Lakić.
The prosecution, in addition to the Sky correspondence, was also helped by the testimony of an associate witness Bajrama Runway, who allegedly told them that the suspects for the journalist's murder offered him 200.000 euros.
According to his testimony, Vesko Bubanja told him in the Spuška prison that Lakić "saw something she shouldn't have", which is why he started to follow where she moves, take photos and send all the data to Knežević. Allegedly, he also told him that Bešović was the chauffeur when they followed Olivera Lakić and that he informed Filip Knežević the time and moment when she was alone and that he could approach her without hindrance...
