To the police officer and the head of the Podgorica uniformed police Darko Knežević (43) and the commander in OB Podgorica Dalibor Živković after the hearing in the building of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, they were detained for up to 72 hours, after which they were returned to the custody of the Podgorica Security Department.
Knežević and Živković are suspected of having allegedly committed a criminal offense - "abuse of official position" and of working outside the rules of the police service, which is why the SDT issued an order for their arrest yesterday, after which they were deprived of their liberty during working hours.
Prosecutor and spokesperson of SDT Vukas Radonjic announced that Knežević and Živković were arrested because of "grounds of suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of abuse of official position".
"The Special Police Department, by order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, deprived police officers DK and D. Ž. of their freedom due to suspicion that they had committed the criminal offense of abuse of office and brought them to the state prosecutor for questioning as suspects. After the hearing, in the presence of the defense attorneys, the suspects were detained for 72 hours from the time they were deprived of their liberty," said Radonjić.
Today, as planned, the heads of the OB Podgorica will be brought to a hearing before the investigating judge of the High Court in Podgorica, after which it will be known whether their detention will be extended or whether they will defend themselves from freedom in further criminal proceedings.
Knežević was interrogated in the SPO building on March 16 this year, the day when a large series of arrests of former and current officers of the Police Directorate began on suspicion that they were part of the criminal organization of the escaped policeman. Ljub Milović.
On that day, Knežević was taken from work to the SPO building, where the inspectors questioned him in his capacity as a citizen about his association with the police officer. Nebojma Bulgarian and commander in OB Podgorica Ivan Stamatović, who have been searched for ever since.
Knežević is godfather to the escaped Bulgarian, but also a close friend of Stamatović.
After the questioning, Knežević was not detained, after which he returned to his official duties at the top of the OB Podgorica the very next day.
The police officer began his career in the police system in 1998, where he performed the duties of a police officer, leader of the security sector, assistant commander in the Police Station for Public Order and Peace in CB Podgorica, then in OB Cetinje, and for a time he was also commander of the Intervention Unit in Podgorica. Knežević also performed the duties of the head of the Kolašin Security Department.
At the moment, the SDT does not connect Knežević, nor commander Živković, with the fact that they had any criminal participation in the organization formed by the fugitive UP officer Ljubo Milović.
Two months ago, the SDT launched an operation to arrest several former and current employees of the Police Administration on suspicion of being part of a criminal organization that worked for the kava clan, the leader of which escaped Radoje Switzerland.
The arrest operation was launched after the SDT received from Europol, through international legal assistance, a huge amount of SKY evidence, which was allegedly exchanged by members of the criminal organization.
At the top of the criminal clan, as SDT believes, was a former policeman from Tivat Mileta Ojdanic and Ljubo Milović, who has been missing since the beginning of summer 2022.
Members of the criminal organization, as suspected by the SDT, became the accused - the acting assistant director of the Police Administration Dejan Knezevic, police officers Ivan Stamatović, Nebojša Bugarin, secret agent Petar Lazovic, a police officerand Marko Novaković i Goran Stojanovic, Milan Popovic, Božidar Jabučanin, Miloš Mišurović, Aleksandar Keković, Vladimir Bajčeta, Dražen Milović, Filip Zindović, Ivan Nikolić, Tihomir Adžić and more NN persons...
