Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said, on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the murder of the editor-in-chief of "Dan" Duško Jovanović, that the expectations of the prosecution in the investigation of that case remain high, as in the previous period, and that someone must finally answer who the perpetrators and perpetrators are. of that murder.
Abazović and Interior Minister Filip Adžića laid a wreath today at the place where Jovanović was killed in Podgorica.
"Without a solution to this issue, justice in Montenegro is impossible. The murder of Jovanovic is not only an act of killing the editor-in-chief of the then largest newspaper in Montenegro, but an act of killing the truth and the fight for justice, because of what that man did in his career, especially in those years , when he became the target of criminals," Abazović said.
He said that he believes that the "new people in the prosecution" will make a new contribution to solving the case, and that the state is ready to "absolutely put everything that is the logistics of the state of Montenegro into the function of that".
"We will try to do two or three things, which I think are important. The first is that, in cooperation with the Commission for Monitoring Investigations of Attacks on Journalists and Media Property, we are already asking the prosecution to implement several of their recommendations. Second, to request international expertise, to help us in what would be the revision of the previous results. And the third is to sensitize the situation regarding this case within the Council of Europe, so that we can see that, in cooperation with them, we may receive instructions so that we can move towards a potential solution." , the Prime Minister stated.
Abazović repeated the position that Jovanovic was killed by the tobacco mafia and that "this is the main reason why we don't have masterminds or murderers in prison."
"The solution to this case would explain many other political and other processes in the previous two and a half decades," he said.
He said that he was glad that part of the public in Croatia connected the case of the murder of Jovanović with the murder of Ivo Pukanić. "If we reach the principals in one or the other case, it means that this first one is solved as well".
Abazović said that the Jovanovic family and all families in Montenegro deserve to "have the moral satisfaction that the perpetrators are brought to justice."
"Without that, Montenegro will not find its peace in the moral and political sense either. My appeal to the prosecutor's office is to speed things up, because the tactic in the previous structures was to die with the passage of time and the last hope that this case will be solved. That they will biology will do its thing when it comes to some people, that circumstances will do their thing, that with the passage of time it will be forgotten... We will not allow it to be forgotten. As long as I personally have the opportunity in any way, the murder of Duško Jovanović will remain a top priority when it comes to the fight for justice in Montenegro," the Prime Minister pointed out.
Abazović, when asked by TV Vijesti, whether anyone has been interrogated on the proposal of the Commission in the meantime, said that he had no information about that.
"That is a question for them, my appeal to the prosecutor who took over the case is not to follow the practice of her predecessors, but to try to move things in a different, much more efficient direction and to start opening windows that can lead us to the truth. If they are looking for masterminds and murderers, under the signs of allegations, in the Philharmonic, they will not find them. This was clearly stated at the meeting. If they are looking for them among people who are known when it comes to the criminal milieu in Montenegro, I think they have a chance They need to change their modus operandi a bit. We don't interfere in their work, but we ask that it be given priority".
Abazović said that the atmosphere in the Police Directorate is "completely different compared to that previous period".
"If the prosecution has even a minimal reaction towards anyone, the police will deal with it as soon as possible," he concluded.
