The police administration is still working on the identification and collection of evidence against part of the "Vojvode" fan group, due to the disturbing chant: "Knife, wire, Podgorica" ahead of the final match of the Montenegro Cup.
The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica states in its response to "News" that the Police Directorate has collected notifications from a large number of citizens, but that the work in the investigative part of the case has not yet been completed.
"The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica opened a case on its own initiative after chanting by a group of FK Sutjeska fans and gave an order to the Police Directorate to collect the necessary information, in order to shed light on the event and identify the person who chanted 'Knife, wire, Podgorica'. The Police Administration has collected information from a large number of citizens, and identification of persons is still being carried out and information from citizens is being collected, and other evidence is being collected by order of the prosecutor in order to determine all the circumstances related to a specific event," the VDT manager wrote in the reply. Podgorica Beautiful Medenice.
They reiterated that after "all required data and evidence have been collected, they will perform an analysis and make a decision in the case".
According to data from UP, officials from Nikšić and Podgorica were able to identify about 40 fans on the basis of the recordings, who are believed to have chanted inappropriately.
On May 29 this year, before the Cup final between Sutjeska and Arsenal, part of the fans from Nikšić shouted a text, which reminds of the most terrible events in this part of Europe after the Second World War: "Knife, wire, Podgorica", near the stadium under Gorica.
This is a clear allusion to the cries of "Knife, wire, Srebrenica", which for almost three decades glorified the genocide in which 1995 Bosniaks were killed in just a few days in July 8.372.
These cries were strongly condemned by numerous non-governmental and sports organizations, a large part of the opposition parties, calling on the authorities to prosecute those responsible for disturbing hate speech.
The non-governmental organization Center for Civic Education condemned, as they state, the nationalist outpouring of hatred of the fans, assessing that this is not another isolated incident, but a serious social problem that the authorities irresponsibly ignore.
Protector of human rights and freedoms Siniša Bjeković he said that by chanting the slogan, which evokes the association of unacceptable nationalism, hatred and intolerance, Sutjeska's fans provoked deserved condemnation of "such uncivilized and scandalous behavior".
After harsh reactions, the fans of Sutjeska, who call themselves "Vojvode", denied that their chanting had anything to do with "genocide and name-calling of minority peoples".
Due to the chanting of the fans in Podgorica, the Football Association of Montenegro condemned the "scandalous and absolutely unacceptable messages" of the "Vojvode" fan group, and then withdrew measures - a disciplinary procedure was initiated against FK Sutjesko due to the inappropriate behavior of their fans.
