Non-governmental organizations LGBT Forum Progres and LGBTIQ Social Center condemned the recent attacks on psychologist Petar Marković, which, as reported today by the NGO Kvir Montenegro, took place in Bar and Podgorica.
They expressed full solidarity with Marković "in these extremely difficult moments".
"We call on the competent institutions to act effectively in these cases, with full attention and in accordance with all applicable regulations, in order to respond in a timely manner to hatred and violence of this kind, for which Montenegro cannot have a place. We join the appeals for increasing the efficiency of the systemic response to hate speech and violence targeting LGBTI persons and other marginalized groups.
"We remind you that these situations, unfortunately, are a reflection of the reality of the life of LGBTI people in Montenegro and that it is necessary to additionally strengthen institutions and work on the development of social awareness so that LGBTI people can live safe lives in their own country, without fear of hatred and violence. We invite all LGBTI persons to contact us, as before, in cases where they are the target of hatred, violence and discrimination through our social networks or to the email podrska@lgbtprogres.me," the announcement states.
