The director of the General Hospital in Nikšić, Dušanka Milatović Perović, said that everyone in that institution was deeply shaken by the death of the baby, who died the night before last, that they sympathize with the parents and that the autopsy will reveal the cause of death.
If it happens that the cause is a human factor, she said that those responsible will be sanctioned.
"I called Professor Šoć, who performed the autopsy. He told me that the results will be known in 15-20 days and he is sending those results to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office. Then we will know what and how to proceed. My condolences to the family. I am sorry, but that the sudden death of babies happens. Statistics show that there are four cases out of ten thousand in the world. Here in Nikšić, it happened once before. I think it happened in other institutions as well. It happens, unfortunately, that a baby dies suddenly at home too. If the autopsy shows that there are any mistakes in the treatment, of course those responsible will bear the sanctions for that," said the director of the General Hospital.
On Sunday evening, a two-day-old baby died in the hospital, and the competent institutions are investigating the case.
The prosecution has requested an autopsy and the results will be known in about twenty days.
The parents of the deceased baby, Darija and Petar Blagojević, pointed out that their baby was born healthy, and that they suspect that the authorities are trying to cover up the cause of death. They, together with a group of citizens, scheduled a protest in front of the General Hospital for today.
