Suzana Mugoša, the judge for the investigation of the High Court in Podgorica, refused the bail offered to terminate the custody of the former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović.

This was confirmed to Vijesti by Marija Raković, independent advisor for public relations of the High Court.

A guarantee in real estate worth 585.000 euros was offered.

Veljović was arrested on July 24 in Žabljak.

On the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), he was handcuffed by members of the Special Police Department (SPO).

The prosecution accuses him of using confidential information to help the head of a criminal organization, Aleksandar Mrkić, to smuggle cigarettes. Allegedly, in the transcripts from Skaj, the prosecutors read that Veljović informed Mrkić that the police would search the premises of Mujo Nikočević, thereby benefiting him in his illegal business - cigarette smuggling.

He is suspected of two crimes - membership in a criminal organization and abuse of official position.

The former first police officer denied guilt, explaining to the special prosecutor that he was investigating Mrkić and his affairs, not helping him.
