The court in Istanbul decided to extend the custody of Željko Bojanić, a suspected prominent member of the "Kavak clan", and on January 22 next year, his trial will continue on the charges of kidnapping, torture and murder of Risto Mijanović. As reported by the Turkish media, Bojanić again rejected the accusations brought against him by the prosecution in court.
The trial of Bojanić, Radoj Živković, Milan Vujotić and Hakan Kaptan, accused of organized crime and the murder of Mijanović, continued in Istanbul.
According to milliyet.com.tr, an expert's report was presented, according to which the photos found at Živković's house match the photos from the interior of the villa used by Bojanic in Istanbul, the RTCG portal reports.
Earlier, the Serbian authorities conveyed to their Turkish colleagues that Risto Mijanović was kidnapped by being held captive in an Istanbul restaurant, and that he was killed after torture on November 10, 2020, and that his body was buried behind the villa belonging to Bojanić. The Serbian authorities also sent the photos of the torture of Mijanović to the Turkish police, Turkish media reported, citing information from the trial.
Photos of the torture appeared on the flash drive of Radoje Živković, who was arrested on charges of participating in the murder of Jovan Vukotić, one of the leaders of the organized criminal group "škaljari", on September 8, 2022. Živković said that he did not know anything about the disappearance of Mijanović, and that he had received the disc from a lawyer because it contained material related to proceedings in Montenegro.
Bojanić's lawyer, Ersan Sen, rejected the expert's report, arguing that it was made by unprofessional people, and that it is clear that these are not the same photos from the disc and from inside the villa. Bojanic accused the police in Turkey of violating his basic rights during his arrest.
The court rejected the lawyer's requests to prepare a new expert report, as well as to release Bojanić from custody.
At the same time, the court decided to consolidate the files of this case with those from the case of the murder of Jovan Vukotić. A new trial is scheduled for January 22 next year.
Earlier, an excavation was carried out in the villa of Željko Bojanić, where Mijanović was allegedly buried after torture, but the body was not found.
It was also claimed that Bojanić carried out extensive adaptations of the basement and garden of the villa in order to camouflage the murder, and that the body was moved to another place, Turkish NTV reported earlier.
