The Supreme Court's decision to terminate the custody of one of the suspects for breaking into the depot of the High Court in Podgorica is a confirmation of the defense's point of view - that there is no reasonable doubt that our defendant Ivica Piperović participated in the criminal offense for which he was arrested, one of his legal representatives told Vijest. , lawyer Stefan Jovanović.
"Although the decision on custody for our defendant, Ivica Piperović, has not yet been made, we believe that it will be the same in his case, because he was unjustifiably arrested and kept in custody. In his case, there is no reasonable doubt - the facilities he uses were searched, the garden was dug up and nothing was found that would connect him in any way to that crime, and it was not found for one reason only - because he has nothing to do with that crime, which he claims from the beginning. However, that was of no importance to the judge, he was already detained because they based the reasonable suspicion on the indirect and unconfirmed testimony of the defendant Katarina Baćović, which is unacceptable and it is ultimately clear that an innocent man is in custody," said Jovanović.
The lawyer added that he agrees with the assessments that the demolition of the High Court's depot is an attack on the judiciary and a shame for the system - "But Piperović has nothing to do with it and as an innocent person he should not suffer because of someone else's shame".
Jovanović spoke out after Vijesti announced this morning that the custody of Predrag Mirotic, one of the suspects in the "Tunel" case, was terminated by the decision of the Supreme Court.
