Lawyer Maja Turković, the defense attorney for Nikola Milačić, one of the suspects for complicity in the break-in of the depot of the Podgorica High Court, said that she expects the detention of her client to be lifted.
"Vijesti" announced today that the Supreme Court terminated the custody of Predrag Mirotic, who is suspected of helping the tunnel diggers to the court room where the evidence is kept.
"I have no information regarding the decision because he is not my client, but if it is a decision of the Supreme Court not to extend custody, then I see it as a confirmation of the defense's allegations that the defendants have nothing to do with the commission of the criminal offenses for which they are charged, while I remind you that in "Regarding my client, the reasonable suspicion is based exclusively and only on the testimony of co-defendant Katarina Baćović, which testimony was not materialized by any evidence," lawyer Turković told Portal Vijesti.
She adds that, after more than two months of conducting an active investigation by the prosecution, during which a series of expert reports were conducted, more than 50 witnesses were heard, "absolutely not a single piece of evidence was obtained" that would confirm that her client was in any way connected to the event in question .
"I point out that my client is a family man, that he has never been convicted before, and when we bring these circumstances into connection with the above, we expect that the next step will be the termination of custody of my client, as the only possible and realistic outcome of this criminal-legal matter," she said. Turković is a lawyer.
