Union of the Police Administration: It is obvious that Đukić had the intention to take the life of our colleague

The Trade Union of the Police Administration called on all structures of judicial power to adequately respond to obvious attacks on police officers and protect their lives in accordance with the law.

The Trade Union of the Police Administration reacted to the verdict of the High Court in Podgorica acquitting Branislav Đukić from Bar of the charge that on October 4, 2020, he tried to kill the police officers Aleksandar Đurđić and Saša Knežević in the Bar bar "Makin Vučinić".

"Today, the Criminal Chamber of Judge Milena Matović sentenced Đukić to three years in prison for the criminal offense of grievous bodily harm to the detriment of B.J. from Bar and illegal possession of a weapon, while the fact that he deliberately tried to take the lives of two police officers in a manner that fired a shot from a pistol in the direction where they were located, during which A.Đ. suffered a slight physical injury in the form of a laceration in the area of ​​the outer side of the right foot," the statement of the Union of the Police Administration states.

They add that "it is obvious that Đukić had the intention to take the life of our colleague who, with a quick reaction, avoided serious injury with a tragic outcome".

"In this way, certain judges, when pronouncing judgments on persons prone to violence and other criminal acts, unknowingly give an additional motive to continue violent behavior, which is certainly not good for the society we live in. That is why we once again express our concern about the increasingly rigid attitude towards to the police and we appeal to the competent authorities to effectively establish the truth, but also to impose the strictest sanctions on those who endanger the lives and health of police officers, because every citizen who raises a hand against a police officer, without exception, must be held accountable for that act. There is no such thing as an attack on a police officer no justification or excuse, it is a criminal offense for which the perpetrator must be held accountable," the statement said.
