Binal (Deniz) Camgoz he cannot answer twice because of one forged passport, and his arrest is an indication that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing the persecution of that Turkish citizen, which began in his home country.

Yesterday, after the hearing of Camgoz at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, one of his defense attorneys, a lawyer, told "Vijesta" Miloš Vuksanović.

Camgoz was ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours, and at the hearing before the prosecutor Majom Knežević he denied guilt.

He was arrested two days ago, and yesterday his escort from the police detention facilities to the prosecution building was secured by dozens of members of the special forces - police officers armed with long barrels were deployed in and around the prosecution building, and Camgoz was covered with a flak blanket. The route of movement was blocked again...

Even yesterday, the police administration did not explain from whom and why they are guarding the internationally wanted citizen of Turkey to such an extent.

He pleaded not guilty

Camgoz denied in front of the prosecutor that he had committed the criminal offense of inducing the certification of untrue content, claiming that he had already been convicted once for using false documents, Vuksanović told "Vijesta".

"He categorically denied guilt, pointing out that in relation to these accusations, he was already sentenced before the Basic Court in Podgorica, to a prison sentence of three months. In truth, this judgment refers to the forgery and use of passports, which use also refers to this alleged criminal offense, for which he cannot be tried due to this circumstance," Vukasanović said.

He said that the defense believes that the arrest and new accusations are intended to compromise the personality of Camgoz at any cost:

"And make it impossible for him to get out of detention conditions, and all after the decision of the Minister of Justice which refused his extradition", Vuksanović said.

He claims that, taking into account all the circumstances, it is the decision of the Minister of Justice Andrej Milović, was the only possible one, and he assessed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues the persecution of Camgoz started in Turkey.

"The decision (of the Minister of Justice) made it clear to all kinds of pressure that Montenegro must remain, or become, a legal state, which no pressure can encourage to commit lawlessness of any kind, especially not in cases where someone's life is at risk , as in the case of Camgoz Binali. Unfortunately, his persecution by Turkey continues through the actions of other state bodies, which is especially evident from the tendentious and theatrical statement of the MUP, which wants to present a trivial criminal offense, which in the end it is not, as a top effort of the Montenegrin of the police in order to suppress crime", said lawyer Vuksanović.

New arrest

Camgoz was arrested on January 30 around 13 p.m. on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of inducing the endorsement of untrue content.

The police claim that during 2022, using a fake passport, he founded the company "Lion" with another Turkish citizen.

After the arrest, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Camgoza suspected that during the establishment of that company, through an accounting agency from Budva, at the Central Registry of Business Entities in Podgorica, he used a fake Turkish document with his photo, with the name Mehmet Alibajhan:

"By doing so, he misled the civil servants of the Central Register of Business Entities in Podgorica, who brought him a decision on the registration of the designated business company," the Ministry of Interior announced.

Camgoz was deprived of his liberty for the first time in Montenegro on July 6, 2022 in Podgorica. The Police Directorate then announced that he had a forged passport with the name Mehmet Alibajhan written on it, and that he was arrested on the basis of an international warrant issued for him by Turkey.

After serving his prison sentence, he was sentenced to extradition custody, from which he was recently released, when he was transferred to the Reception Center for Foreigners, where he was under extraordinary security measures.

Minister of Justice Andrej Milović recently refused to extradite to Turkey that Turkish citizen accused of several serious crimes, justifying his decision by the foreigner's impaired health condition and ethnicity, although the decision of the High Court became final on June 1, 2023, which found that the conditions for the extradition of that accused for the most serious crimes have been met. "Vijesti" was told by several unofficial sources that the National Security Agency (ANB) determined that Camgoz poses a threat to the national security of Montenegro.

Responding to the "News", Milović, however, said that he did not have to consult that service before making a decision on extradition, because their opinion does not play a decisive role in extradition. They later clarified that the National Security Agency (ANB) did not provide them with an opinion that the Turkish citizen threatens national security. They previously announced that neither the Minister of Justice nor any employee in that government department was threatened during the decision-making process on the extradition of Camgoz.

"Vijesti"'s questions about this came after the newspaper announced that Camgoz, through a member of the Kavac criminal clan, threatened his colleague, the Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj who promised his friends from Kosovo and Albania that he would ask the MUP about the possibility of him legally obtaining asylum in Montenegro.

"I made it clear to him (my friend) that I am not responsible for these matters, but I promised him that I would contact my friends from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and inquire about the legal possibilities for that asylum to be granted," Dukaj told the inspectors.

However, he did not want to tell the investigators who the friend from Kosovo was who connected him with Camgoz's men.

Spajić did not know about Milović's decision?

That will not happen again, from now on I will be informed about all important decisions, said Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, answering the question of "Vijesti" how he commented on Milović's decision not to extradite Camgoz, accused of serious crimes, to Turkey.

In this context, Spajić stated that those who were not previously politicians or ministers, may not have acquired the "habits of informing their superiors about important decisions".

"That will not happen again, from now on I will be informed about all important decisions", said Spajić.

He added that the Government is not even a hundred days old, and that they are still gaining ground.

Asked if Camgoz will still be extradited, he said that was a question for Milović.

Yesterday, Milović announced to RTCG that he made the decision ad acta.

The former ambassador called me about Camgoz

Although he has not answered the questions of "Vijesti" for days - which is why he waited for the National Security Agency to call him for a hearing, and only then reported Camgoz, Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj told RTCG yesterday that he has been on the headlines for seven days and that in he didn't go to the police earlier - because he didn't know.

"I am on the front pages of the media for the seventh day. This is classic political discredit. I told the state authorities everything I had, and as soon as I found out that someone was threatening me, I immediately went to the premises of the National Security Agency (ANB) and gave a statement to the police," Dukaj told RTCG.

He also claims that at the request of his friend, the former ambassador of Kosovo, he discussed Camgoz with Indrit Koleši and that as soon as he found out what it was about, he referred Koleši to the state authorities.

"The question journalists often ask me is why I didn't report it right away. The answer is - I didn't know. As soon as I found out who was threatening me, I immediately went to the ANB and gave a statement as a citizen to the police. I repeat, I didn't do anything illegal, I didn't influence anyone," said Dukaj.

He added that the whole situation was difficult for him and his family.

“I've never heard of Camgoz in my life, nor do I know who protects him. That is a question for some others and I think I was clear", said Dukaj.

He repeated that many want to discredit him.

"This is a clear message for everyone who wants to shift the responsibility to me - I did not break the law... Time will tell, who is working for whose job," said Dukaj.
