The President of the URA Civil Movement, Dritan Abazović, congratulated the chief special prosecutor Vladimir Novović and his associates, as well as the head of the Special Police Department, Predrag Šuković, on today's action, which, he said, is a continuation of earlier activities aimed at suppressing organized crime in the territory of Montenegro.
"After I stated two years ago that people from the 'Grand' clan (owners of Bemax and the rest of the team) are at the top of the criminal pyramid in Montenegro, I became a daily target of their dirty campaign and whispering divisions that they finance or emotionally corrupt out of supposed concern for the state. When that didn't help them either, they started with threats and activated private lawsuits and court processes that are ongoing. Today, some of them have finally received the hand of justice, and I believe that others who have fallen foul of the law will have a similar fate. I repeat, the 'Grand' clan, according to operational estimates, damaged the state of Montenegro for billions of euros and that was the exclusive and only reason that they were the main target of my government," Abazović wrote on social networks.
The former prime minister said that he was proud "that we have initiated historical processes that will only have real significance for Montenegro".
"This is a great day for justice! Let's move on! The truth finds its way every day," concluded Abazović.
HURRY: Confirmed correctness of our fight against organized crime
The URA civil movement announced that today's action by the Special Police Department, in which the recent co-owner of Bemax company Aleksandar Aco Mijajlović was arrested, is "a great day for justice".
They provided "sincere support" and congratulated the Special State Prosecutor's Office and the Special Police Department for the action they had taken and "for everything they do in the fight against organized crime and corruption."
"The hand of justice also knocked on the door of 'Grand', which clearly confirmed the correctness of our fight against organized crime, as well as everything that Dritan Abazović said years ago, clearly accusing people from the 'Grand' clan, co-owners of BEMAX- and that they are at the top of the criminal pyramid in Montenegro and that they are one of the main smugglers of cigarettes," announced URA.
"After Dritan Abazović was not silenced by the media chase and the overthrow of the 43rd Government, the owners of BEMAX tried to do so by filing criminal charges against Abazović, while at the same time wishing for the formation of the 44th Government as soon as possible and the departure of URE to the opposition," adds the party.
They also said that, "unfortunately for them, the system that was established in the security sector during the Abazović government, as well as the reforms in the prosecutor's office, continues to produce results", even though "parts of the Spajić government are trying in every possible way to remove everyone from their positions as soon as possible those people who are the personification of the fight against organized crime."
"Today we received the fact that the man who filed a criminal complaint against Dritan Abazović was arrested for cigarette smuggling, because he accused him of being behind cigarette smuggling. As citizens can see for themselves, the truth always finds its way, and the hand of justice will not stop as long as there are honest and uncompromising fighters for justice," URA concludes.
