Podgorica Zoran Vukcevic (38) is suspected of aggravated attempted murder, after seriously injuring a police officer of the Podgorica Security Department on duty in the night between Friday and Saturday Mica Radovic.
The policeman suffered serious head injuries in the attack - a skull fracture, for which he was hospitalized at the Neurosurgery Department of the Clinical Center in Podgorica.
According to the unofficial information of "Vijesti", the suspect Vukčević, who was arrested two days ago for a series of serious thefts in Konik, asked the UP officer to take him from the "concrete mixer" to the toilet.
During the enforcement, it is believed, he violently hit the policeman in the head, and then tried to run away...
Then the officers of the Duty Service responded and overpowered the detainee.
"The person was subdued with the use of means of coercion - physical force, and placed in a detention room," the Police Administration announced officially.
They point out that the prosecutor in the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica decided to classify the criminal offense as aggravated attempted murder.
They also explain that Radović was engaged in securing the detention facilities.
The security institution, responding to Vijest, said that at the moment when Radović was injured, two arrested persons were staying in the detention facilities.
"One police officer was assigned to provide the same, and the other officer, according to the needs of the service, performed the current task in the on-call service," they explained.
They also add that the number of police officers who are assigned to provide detention facilities is determined depending on the security assessment:
"More accurate categorization of persons staying in detention facilities".
They also explained that the detention facilities are secured by the physical presence of police officers:
"As well as the video surveillance system, the monitoring of which is carried out in the detention rooms themselves and in the premises of the on-call service".
They also point out that during February, a total of 315 people stayed in the detention facilities of the Podgorica Security Department, on various grounds (criminal acts and misdemeanors):
"Which is an average of 11 people in a period of 24 hours", said the UP.
He faces a sentence of at least ten years
For the attempted murder of a police officer, Vukčević can be sentenced to at least ten years in prison.
According to the Criminal Code, whoever intentionally begins the execution of a criminal offense, but does not complete it, will be punished for an attempted criminal offense for which a prison sentence of five years or a heavier penalty can be imposed by law.
"The use of a certain means or the application of a certain method of execution is also considered as the initiation of the execution of a criminal offense, if they are determined by law as features of a criminal offense," the CC reads.
