Numerous honorable police officers are exposed to verbal and often physical attacks every day, the Trade Union of the Police Administration announced and asked the Government to improve legal measures in order to adequately protect all police officers.

"The act of vandalism by a person deprived of liberty towards our colleague, without any motive or reason, is a consequence of the general social environment and negative media reflection towards the police", the union stated in a statement.
Because of this, as they said, numerous honorable members of the Police Administration are daily exposed to verbal and often physical attacks.
The Police Administration Union said that an attack on a police officer is an attack on the state.
"Apart from service information, we did not record the reactions of the public or political and other public figures to that event, with the exception of the Minister of Internal Affairs, probably for the reason that for Montenegrin society, some events from everyday social life are more important than endangering the life of a police officer," the statement says.
The union said that in this particular case they are looking for a restrictive response from the state authorities in order to protect not only physical integrity, but also for the preventive action of the state against all miscreants and criminals who threaten the work and safety of every police officer through violent actions.
"Does the government need a more serious case, or the loss of life of a police officer, to accept that we are the backbone of the state system and the only state body that has a legal obligation to protect law and order and constitutional order with our lives, and to stop looking at the police solely through percentages budget spending," the announcement states.
The Union of the Police Administration asked the Government to improve legal measures in order to adequately protect all police officers in the performance of their official duties.
"We ask the Government to implement the signed legal obligation to improve the financial position of the police and officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as soon as possible and to return the acquired rights to us," the statement says.
The Trade Union asked the Government to implement measures related to the procurement of material and technical means necessary for protection at work.
"The union will provide all the necessary help to our injured colleague, to whom we wish a speedy recovery and return to regular work duties," the announcement states.
