The custody of Đorđe Pavićević and the alleged members of the criminal group was terminated

The custody of Baranin Đorđi Pavićević and the alleged members of his criminal group, suspected of cigarette smuggling, was terminated.

This was confirmed for Vijesti by one of his defense attorneys, lawyer Zoran Piperović.

He pointed out that the last proposed witness was heard before the special prosecutor Vukas Radonjić today, after which a decision was made to terminate the custody of Pavićević and Nikica Kovačević, as well as for two other suspects.

He pointed out that the witness hearing was attended by lawyer Stefan Jovanović.

Because of cigarette smuggling, at the end of last year, members of the Special Police Department arrested Pavićević, two employees of the Revenue and Customs Administration, Ivana Kovačević and Veljko Đuričić, and Nikica Kovačević, a former employee of Pavićević's company, on the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office.

After the arrest, Vijesti was told by unofficial sources that dozens of containers full of illegal cigarettes were allegedly smuggled by a criminal group managed by Pavićević.

According to the same information, the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) accuses that team of having smuggled at least three ships loaded with those tobacco products.

"The investigators determined that the ships left the Port of Bar empty, and that the cigarettes were left in the warehouses of the Free Zone in order to further sell them on the illegal markets... Customs officers helped make it look like that in the documents," said an interlocutor to Vijesti from the investigation at the time.
