The trial of the former president of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, Vesna Medenica, her son Miloš and the other defendants, was postponed to March 29 at the High Court in Podgorica. The reason for the postponement of the trial is the non-appearance of the defendant Luka Bakoč at the hearing of the main trial. Judge Nada Rabrenović issued a national warrant because even today the defendant Luka Bakoč did not appear for the scheduled sentencing at the High Court in Podgorica.
Lawyer Dina Šabotić stated that Bakoč did not answer her mobile number either.
"He didn't contact me either. Since I wrote the appeal against the decision ordering Bakoč's detention, I have had no communication. I tried to reach him yesterday, but he didn't answer. His family and I are also worried," said Šabotić.
At the last postponed main trial, the president of the panel of judges, Nada Rabrenović, ordered the detention of Bakoč due to unjustified absence.
The Special State Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against the defendants Miloš and Vesna Medenica, Darko Lalović, Vasilij Petrović, Bojan and Marko Popović, Marko Vučinić, Milorad Medenica, Luka Bakoč, Petar Milutinović, Ivana Kovačević, Radomir Raičević, Marjan Bevenja, Stevo Karanikić and Goran Jovanović. and the company "Kopad Company", for criminal acts - creation of a criminal organization, smuggling, giving and receiving bribes, illegal influence and inducing illegal influence, abuse of official position, drug smuggling, illegal possession of weapons, causing serious bodily harm and preventing evidence.
Miloš Medenica is accused of having created a criminal organization in 2019, whose members were his mother Vesna and other defendants, with the aim of smuggling cigarettes and illegally influencing the judicial authorities, and for the purpose of acquiring illegal profits and power.
It is alleged that, in co-perpetration with the accused members of a criminal organization, he smuggled cigarettes from the Free Customs Zone of the port of Bar, avoiding the measures of customs supervision, with the help of false documents and paying bribes to customs officials.
Crossing the Bakoč border was not registered
As Judge Nada Rabrenović announced today, the police informed the High Court in a letter that the officers of OB Nikšić were unable to find the defendant Luka Bakoč, and that they spoke with his father, who told them that he did not know where his son was. Bakoč's father also told the police that Luka had health problems, which is why he often visited doctors.
The border police informed the court that in the period from January 31 to March 13, Luka Bakoč was not registered when crossing the border.
