At today's session, the government appointed Predrag Burić, a former secret service officer and current president of the Montenegrin Aikido Association, as inspector general of the National Security Agency.
His appointment to the most important position of Internal Control of ANB was prepared on the proposal of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
The position of Inspector General of the ANB has been vacant since November 9, 2023, when the current Government dismissed Artan Kurti from that position in a secret service scheme.
According to insiders, the government was in a hurry to complete the appointment of Burić before the Administrative Court makes a decision on the lawsuit filed by Kurti, who claims that he was illegally removed from a key position within the internal control system of the intelligence agency...
Burić is the founder of aikido sport in Montenegro and has been an instructor and president of the Montenegrin Aikido Association for many years, where the position of vice president in the Board of Directors from the end of 2021 is covered by Sreten Kankaraš, the uncle of the current head of the government, who security circles claim is pulling important personnel from the shadows and other moves.
Prior to the appointment of Burić as inspector general, a security check was carried out, but to cover that position, positive psychological tests are required, a check by the Commission for the Admission of Candidates...
According to the recent amendments to the Law on ANB, the conditions from Article 27a are also required for the appointment of the position of general inspector, that is, that the candidate fulfills the same conditions for establishment as for the official of the ANB, but also at least five years of experience.
Internal control of work in the Agency refers to - data protection, efficiency of implementation of programs and work plans, application and exceeding of authorizations, financial operations, but monitoring of the execution of service tasks...
The General Inspector is appointed and dismissed by the Government, and is appointed for five years.

The director of the ANB is Boris Milić, who, from October 2022, has been in charge of the secret service, first in an acting capacity and then for a full term.
