This is stated in the announcement of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office (VDT).

From that institution, they commented on the position of the President of the Association of Judges of Montenegro and the President of the Administrative Court, Miodrag Pešić, presented at the meeting of the Association of Lawyers of Montenegro, that the Special State Prosecutor's Office has so far not achieved any results in the fight against high-level corruption.

SDT notes that their results have been highlighted in numerous reports from international addresses.

"Proceedings initiated against the former president of the Supreme Court, the president of the Commercial Court of Montenegro, judges and prosecutors, other representatives of the judiciary and various branches of government, are only part of the achieved results of the SDT, which were noted in the latest report of the European Commission," the statement reads.

They add that the results of the SDT were also recognized by the State Department, which awarded Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović an award for the fight against corruption.

"In 2023 alone, the Special State Prosecutor's Office issued orders to conduct investigations in 8 cases against a total of 19 persons for corrupt crimes, and 10 charges were brought against 30 persons. Proceedings are also currently being conducted against a certain number of persons, which are in the investigation phase. The results of the Special, as well as other state prosecution offices, would be more visible, if the decisions of the courts were made within a reasonable time, so in this sense we expect an improvement in the efficiency of the courts".

The VDT called on Pešić, as well as all his colleagues, to inform the State Prosecutor's Office if they have information that indicates anyone's illegality in their work, whose reaction, they added, will not be absent.

"Citizens of Montenegro rightfully expect all judicial authorities to take care of their safety and consistently implement legal regulations, which is why representatives of the judiciary are expected to take increased responsibility and refrain from expressing unfounded views, which are best denied by concrete results. of work", the announcement concludes.
