The coordinating body for the list of confiscated goods in the Free Zone "Luka Bar" announced that they have adopted an action plan, which will lead to the destruction of the seized cigarettes.
At the second session, which was presided over by the Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, it was decided to submit the Inventory Plan of seized goods, the cost estimate for inventory and destruction, and the request for support in relation to the handling of waste generated after the destruction of confiscated tobacco products to the Delegation of the European Union, which expressed its willingness to provide funds for the implementation of inventory activities and destruction of confiscated tobacco products.
It was emphasized that it is necessary to make the entire process as transparent as possible, which, as stated, will be helped by the participation of representatives of the British Revenue and Customs Management Authority (HMRC).
The importance of documenting every step in the process was also emphasized, in order to "ensure that the public regains confidence in the institutions of the system."
"The coordination body tasked the Customs Administration to, in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Law, the Regulation on the conditions and manner of sale of customs goods and other procedures with customs goods, the Tobacco Act and the Excise Act, clearly establish the facts and circumstances that confirm that confiscated tobacco products cannot be sold and must be destroyed," the announcement states.
It was concluded that the procedure could be completed during June.
