Even at today's General Session of the Supreme Court, the proposal of a candidate for the president of the umbrella court instance was not determined.
Judge of the Supreme Court Ana Vuković, but also the President of the Administrative Court Miodrag Pešić did not receive two-thirds support from the total number of judges at the General Session of the Supreme Court.
"17 judges participated in the work of the General Session. After a secret vote, in which 16 judges participated, it was determined that there were 11 valid and five invalid ballots," the Supreme Court officially announced.
They state that judge Ana Vuković did not exercise her right to vote, even though the General Session allowed her to do so, based on the Rules of Procedure.
"Six judges voted for the candidate Ana Vuković, while five judges voted for the candidate Miodrag Pešić, so that no candidate received the necessary two-thirds majority," the announcement states.
This is how the eighth attempt to elect the president of the Supreme Court, which has not had a full-term head since the end of 2020, when the long-time president Vesna Medenica left the position, also failed.
Today's General Session of the Supreme Court started at nine o'clock, and the work program was first presented by judge Ana Vuković, and then by the second candidate, judge Miodrag Pešić.
The candidates needed the support of two-thirds of the total number of judges of the Supreme Court, i.e. 13 votes, in a secret ballot.
