Illegally cut timber was seized today in Jelovica, on the territory of the municipality of Berane, and it was discovered that a forest guard was transporting certain timber with his own truck, according to the announcement of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management.
"Officials of the Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds this morning successfully confiscated illegally cut timber in department 12, Economic Unit 'Jelovica' in the municipality of Berane and, with the coordination of the Acting Director of the Management, Miloš Rajković, moved the confiscated timber to a safe location.
What is particularly important to emphasize is the fact that on this occasion, at another location, thanks to secretly placed cameras in the forest, two trucks and an employee of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management, a forest guard, were discovered, who was transporting certain timber with his own truck. This case was immediately reported to the Police Directorate, which is currently establishing the facts and collecting evidence, and in the coming days it will certainly be adequately prosecuted and sanctioned for illegal behavior," the statement reads.
It is added that the acting director of the Forest and Hunting Management Administration, Miloš Rajković, said that he will not allow anyone to play with state institutions, and therefore to carry out lawlessness.
"No one will be absolved from responsibility, that's why in the coming days we will continue our successful fight against illegal activities even more actively, and thanks to the secretly installed cameras, we will have an insight into all illegal activities that are carried out in the forests," the announcement concludes.
