The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, said that he expects the competent authorities to finally shed light on the murder of "Dana" editor Duško Jovanović in 2004.
"Today marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of Duško Jovanović, the editor of the daily newspaper DAN and a brave journalist who died for free speech. We owe Duško truth and justice, and we owe ourselves the chance to build a society in which free speech is safe. I expect the competent authorities to finally shed light on all the circumstances of this case, because this is the only way we can lay the foundations for a transparent and responsible society in which the right of every citizen to know is protected," Milatović wrote on Iks.
"The least the state can do in order to repay Dušek's devoted and dedicated work is to erect a memorial that I initiated last year. The monument would be a symbol of the fight for truth and justice, but also a warning that crimes against journalists should not be tolerated or forgotten." , said Milatović.
