Accused businessman Duško Knežević refused to the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) to testify about Milo Đukanović's nobody's house and first million cases while he is in custody, his lawyers Dražen Medojević and Marko Ivanović announced, who visited him today in Spuz.
Knežević was heard yesterday in the High Court in Podgorica, by the prosecutor Tanja Čolan Deletić, in the presence of High Court judge Amir Đokaj and Medojević's lawyer.
Čolan Deletić informed him that she was in the High Court in the capacity of a citizen and that she should answer questions related to cases that are still in the investigation phase.
Lawyer Ivanović said that Knežević claims that he was taken from the Spuški prison without a summons, in the way that he was only told that he had to immediately get ready to go to court for a hearing, where his lawyer Medojević was waiting for him, who explained to him that due to the urgency of the case, it had to be done that way, and they had no other way to inform him.
"Prosecutor Tanja Čolan Deletić informed him that she was there in the capacity of a citizen and that she should answer questions related to cases that are still in the investigation phase, and in question are the well-known affairs called "Nobody's House" and "The First Million", and the connection between Mr. -din Milo Đukanović with custody account. Knežević refused to testify in those cases, telling the prosecutor the same thing he told the media recently, that he will not answer questions while he is in prison in Spuž, and especially not as a witness against other persons, because he does not he wants to be used and abused again, as he was already politically used to fight against Milo Đukanović and overthrow his regime," Ivanović said.
Knežević, Ivanović stated, will be guided only by his own interests in connection with the protection of destroyed and the return of seized property, arbitration and the interest of over a thousand people from the Atlas Group who lost their jobs, "so it no longer exists with him, as he says , "native romanticism"".
"His position is that Mr. Novović and SDT, if they want to solve cases of the biggest scandals in Montenegro - "Envelope", "Nobody's house", "Prvi milion", account custodians, know how to establish contact with Mr. Knežević in order to agree on potential cooperation from his side," said Ivanovic.
Lawyer Medojević suggested that Knežević must have firm guarantees regarding his safety and conditions for the termination of detention and the possibility of performing business activities concerning the University, his business group and property, and guarantees that he will be enabled to actively participate in a potential arbitration proceeding.
"So, we believe that this is a way that would go in the direction of creating the preconditions for the right solution in this particular case," Ivanović said.
