Through the operational information that I received as the coordinator of the security services, and later as the prime minister, concerning the murder Duško Jovanović, two names kept coming up, among others - Zoran Lazovic i Dusko Golubovic.
This was said by the former Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, after being in front of the prosecutor yesterday Dankom Ivanović Đerić explained why he publicly insisted that in the investigation of the murder of the owner and editor of the "Dan" newspaper, an urgent interrogation of former security guard Lazović should be ordered.
He did not specify to "Vijesti" in which context those names were mentioned.
"It seems to me that I recognize the will of the prosecutor Ivanović Đerić to bring this to an end, and I am glad that the case of Jovanović's murder is with her. I think he'll do his best to move it from deadlock. I answered the question why I just now mentioned how important the hearing of Lazović is, because the investigative journalist of the Radio Television of Republika Srpska encouraged me to do so with her post. I told her that the information and what she alluded to coincided with the information that I, as the coordinator of the security system and then the Deputy Prime Minister, and later as the Prime Minister, received from several operatives of the security services, as well as from those who could have known. . All of them, in a list, mentioned Lazovićeva and several other names. It was not up to me to verify that information, but to pass it on to the authorities, which I did, asking them to finally, after two decades of silence and cover-up, shed light on that crime," Abazović told "Vijesti".
He also explained that he shared with the prosecutor information about a letter from a prisoner he received in the spring of 2021, who asked to speak with him "in order to give me information useful for that case".
"After the conversation, I informed the High Court and the High State Prosecutor's Office about it, but they were more reluctant than helpful. I clearly told the prosecutor whose mistake it was that the offer that the state received was not used, even though the murder of Jovanović could have been solved even then. I think that opportunity was ruined because of the deep state. I believe that the acting prosecutor will do everything to get complete information. I emphasize that I do not expect Lazović to cooperate with the prosecution, but it is very important to hear him in that case," said the leader of the URA Citizens' Movement.
A few days ago, Abazović invited the Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković to issue a binding instruction to interrogate longtime secret agent Zoran Lazović in the investigation into the journalist's murder.
"Operational information said earlier that Zoran Lazović and some other people from the security service at the time could give very significant answers to the question of who killed Duško Jovanović," Abazović said at the time.
The journalist and former member of parliament was killed on May 27, 2004 - he was mowed down by shots from an automatic weapon when he left the editorial office of the daily paper he owned.
Justice is 20 years late
Damir Mandić from Podgorica was the only person convicted of participating in the murder of Jovanović, who was convicted in April 2017 by the Appellate Court for complicity and sentenced to 19 years in prison.
In addition to the perpetrators and orderers of that murder, those who conducted the investigation so that the truth is never established escape justice. It has not been determined who is responsible for the fact that there have been no serious results for almost two decades.
Last year in the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, in that investigation, several people were heard, among them Vesna Medenica, who was the supreme state prosecutor when Jovanović was killed.
She testified in the investigation opened in 2021, which is headed by prosecutor Ivanović Đerić.
After the hearing, her legal representative, lawyer Zdravko Begović, told "Vijesti" that Medenica gave her testimony as a witness and that he did not attend the hearing.
"From the communication with her, I can say that yesterday she gave all the information she received from the investigative authorities. She is satisfied with the fact that the investigation is continuing and expects it to be successfully concluded," Begović said in June last year.
The former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, was previously heard as a witness.
He was allegedly speaking about the circumstances of the disappearance of the official note in which, after the arrest of the only one convicted of complicity in the murder, Damir Mandić, UP officials wrote down everything he told them that night.
The first Montenegrin policeman announced a few years ago that the murder of Jovanović was solved operationally, that is, that the police know who did it, but that there is no material evidence.
In mid-September 2019, he said that the fatigue of the competent prosecutor on the night of the liquidation was the reason that the case of the murder of the owner of "Dana" was not fully resolved and that the case was irretrievably lost.
