Lawyer Miroje Jovanović, the defense attorney for the defendants Andrija Mandić and Mihailo Čađenović, issued a statement regarding the case known to the public as the "coup d'état".
"Due to the information conveyed by the media, that GST Vladimir Novović informed the superior of the Supreme State Prosecutor, Milorad Marković, that supposedly none of the existing prosecutors working in the SDT can, for objective and other reasons, act in the case for the so-called "coup d'état", and that he asked the VDT to get involved in this case, that is, that they represent the indictment, I state the following.
At the main hearing on May 13, 05, which was open to the public, I very clearly warned the court panel that I believe that no one from the SDT will attend the hearings scheduled for June 2024 and 20, 21. that they will thus try to obstruct the case. The court announced that there are procedural measures if such a situation occurs.
As a defense attorney in this staged and farcical procedure, I believe that despite such attempts by SDT to distance itself from the case, there is a solution that leads to the final conclusion of the procedure. The first and fairest possibility is that if any prosecutor approaches, the court panel rejects this indictment and this one, which should have been done much earlier.
Another possibility is that a representative of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office - that is, state prosecutor Maja Jovanović - will attend the main trial. The person in question, according to her own admission, which she presented in her act, then as CEO of VDT, marked Tu. no. 396/22 of August 24, 2022 stated (direct quote):
"It follows from the case file that the special prosecutor Saša Čađenović takes measures and actions in accordance with the legal regulations, and there is no reason for his exemption prescribed in Article 38 of the CPC, i.e. there are no circumstances that raise doubts about his impartiality in his actions .“
The above leads to the unequivocal conclusion that the prosecutor in the VDT, Maja Jovanović, is familiar with the entire case file. Therefore, the prosecutor Jovanović Maja has all the predispositions to attend the main hearing on June 20 and 21 and give her closing speech. If colleague Jovanović is unable to attend for any reason, there are other prosecutors in the VDT who are certainly familiar with this case, because it was submitted to that body several times, at least starting in February 2017, July 2018, and November 2019. , and finally in August 2022.
This indicates that the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office has representatives who are familiar with the case file, and who can come to the main trial, and there are no reasons for postponement or any further delay of the proceedings. If the VDT approached this case conscientiously and responsibly, it could only conclude what the entire Montenegrin and regional public saw and concluded and abandon the illiterate, false and fabricated indictment of Katnić. "Let it not be difficult for them to, in addition to all the evidence, and especially the digital evidence, read the testimony of the former high-ranking CIA official Brian Scott from June 5 and 6, 2018, who denied the notorious falsehoods presented in that shameful indictment," the lawyer said in the statement. Miroje Jovanović, as he stated, is the defense attorney for the innocently accused Andrija Mandić and Mihailo Čađenović.
