Acting Director of the Police Administration, Aleksandar Radović, announced today that he has resigned from that position.

He said at the press conference of the Police Administration and the Higher State Prosecutor's Office that he did this to enable the Government to resolve the situation that arose after the Administrative Court made a decision to return Zoran Brđanin to that position.

At the conference, when asked to comment on the ruling of the Administrative Court, according to which Zoran Brđanin was unlawfully dismissed from the post of police director, he said that the ruling is binding.

"The judgment of the court is binding and I have always been in favor of respecting court decisions," said Radović.

Radović said that there must be a proposal from the Minister of Internal Affairs in order for him to be dismissed from the post of Acting Police Director.

"Such a proposal was not submitted. I, in order to facilitate the functioning of the Police Administration, not wanting to complicate the situation, submitted my resignation to the Prime Minister and the Minister," said Radović. He said that he does not want to fight for the chair.

On June 25, the Administrative Court accepted for the third time the lawsuit filed by the former director of the Police Administration, Zoran Brđanin.

In the decision of the Administrative Court, it is written that by the decision of the Government of Montenegro dated March 3, Brđanin was dismissed from the position of Director of the Police Directorate, before the expiration of the time for which he was appointed, after the Minister of Internal Affairs submitted a proposal for his dismissal.

In March, the government elected Radović as acting director of the Police Administration by a majority of votes on the proposal of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

He proposed Radović for that position, even though it was not an item on the agenda.

The law stipulates that the acting police director is proposed by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
