The Supreme Court Council issued a decision extending the detention of former high-ranking police official Zoran Lazović and former chief special prosecutor Milivoj Katnić for another three months.
Prolongation of custody was proposed by the Special State Prosecutor's Office.
"The Council of the Supreme Court, composed of judge Vesna Vučković as the president of the panel and judges Marijana Pavićević and Ana Vuković as members of the panel, extended the detention of the defendant ZL due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization under Article 401 a paragraph 1 in relation to paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro, and the MK due to the well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization from Article 401a paragraph 2 in connection with paragraphs 1 and 6 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro," said that court.
The detention of Lazović and Katnić was determined by the decision of the investigating judge of the High Court in Podgorica on April 16, and extended by the decision of the panel of that court on May 13, so that according to the decision of the Supreme Court, the detention can last until October 14.
The two were arrested on April 14, by order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, by officers of the Special Police Department headed by Predrag Šuković.
They were arrested on charges of subordinating the public service to the interests of the Kavaka criminal clan. They denied it.
