The Budva police carried out a major operation this morning, during which a marijuana plantation was found. Three people were arrested, and searches were conducted at several locations.
As "Vijesti" unofficially learns, the brothers Ivan and Igor Popović, as well as Mirko Jovanović, were arrested.
The Police Directorate officially announced that the officers of the Sector for the fight against crime, together with the officers of the Regional Security Center "South", Security Department Budva, and in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, implemented the case codenamed "Osmatrač".
"This morning, in the early hours of the morning, police officers searched the apartments used by IP (33), IP (35) and MJ (39), and for whom, based on previous operational information, the police suspected that they were cultivating the plant of hemp - marijuana in the town of Višnjeva. During the implementation of this case, a plantation with 178 plants of hemp - marijuana plants was found, according to the announcement.
"According to the order of the state prosecutor, an on-site investigation was carried out during which 178 stems of this plant were cut and removed, in order to conduct further expert examinations, while the apartments used by these persons were searched in three locations, and 1,4 kilograms of material for which is suspected to be the narcotic drug marijuana, a small amount of hashish, two scales for precise measurement, two mobile phones, as well as a Mercedes vehicle, and which items are suspected to have been used in the commission of a criminal offense," added the police.
They say that it is suspected that those arrested were involved in the cultivation of these plants, as well as street distribution of narcotics, and that they committed a criminal offense - unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs. They will be taken to the state prosecutor in Podgorica.
"Officials of the Police Directorate, Sector for the fight against crime, continue their continuous activities with undiminished intensity with the aim of breaking the network of street sales of narcotics and prosecuting the so-called 'street dealers', all with the aim of protecting health and creating a favorable security environment for the life and work of the citizens of Montenegro ", the announcement concludes.
