The former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, was not threatened with assassination, the Police Directorate and the National Security Agency (ANB) announced in a joint statement and emphasized that the contrary information published in some media was incorrect.
"Regarding the media allegations before and after the Security and Defense Committee session at which the Director of the Police Administration Zoran Brđanin and the Director of the National Security Agency Boris Milić were heard, and for the sake of accurate information to the public, while respecting the restrictions related to the protection of secret data, there is a need for this announcement in order to fully clarify the fact, that is, the circumstances that captured the media's attention.
The data obtained within the framework of the international cooperation of the National Security Agency indicate that foreign intelligence services, that is, the intelligence community, is not the source of information that an assassination is being prepared in relation to the former president of the country, and as it was stated in certain media, that is, the conclusion follows that the information published in certain media on this occasion is not accurate," the announcement states.
It is added that the Police Directorate, within the framework of international operational police cooperation, did not receive the mentioned information, that is, such information was not delivered to the Police Directorate within the framework of international operational police cooperation.
"In this regard, the information that the former president of Montenegro is being threatened is not true," the statement concludes.
