Baranin Đorđi Pavićević's passport was confiscated and he was forbidden to leave his place of residence.

This is what the Podgorica High Court decided, at the proposal of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), which suspects him of organizing a criminal organization and cigarette smuggling, High Court spokeswoman Marija Raković confirmed to "Vijesta".

According to the same information, the SDT did not request alternative surveillance measures for the alleged members of his criminal group - customs officers Ivana Kovačević and Veljko Đuričić, as well as for Nikola Kovačević, a former freight forwarder in Pavićević's company "Playmaker".

The owner of the Mornar Basketball Club and the team around him were initially arrested at the end of 2023, in an operation by the Special Police Department, but were released from custody almost three months later.

The same team was deprived of liberty a few days ago - on July 29, as part of the expansion of the Special State Prosecutor's Office's investigation into cigarette smuggling from the Bar Port Free Zone.

"Vijesti" was then told that hundreds of millions of euros were the damage caused to the state by smuggling cigarettes, but the defendants denied this at the hearing.

SDT claims that this team, from June to November alone, smuggled cigarettes with forged documents on at least eight occasions.

Pavićević's legal representative, lawyer Zoran Piperović, said that his client insisted during the hearing that all the documents were correct, that they were not fake documents and that the cigarettes left the Free Zone of Luka Bar and did not remain on the gray market.
