The security situation in Montenegro is stable, it was assessed at the session of the National Security Council and it was ordered that the traffic infrastructure should be improved in order to solve the problem of traffic jams and increase the safety of all traffic participants.
As announced by the Government, the session discussed the current security situation in Montenegro with reference to the tourist season and activities to prevent illegal migration and people smuggling through Montenegrin territory.
"It was established that the security situation in the country is stable, that measures and activities are being undertaken to improve the security and protection of the state border, and that ensuring the safety of tourists during the tourist season was a challenge, which was successfully implemented with the coordinated work of all security services," he says. in the announcement.
It is stated that the Council stated that it is necessary to work on improving the traffic infrastructure, which will solve the problem of traffic jams and increase the safety of all road users.
At the session, as stated, the report on the work of the Bureau for operational coordination of the bodies of the intelligence and security sector from December 7 of last year to June 7 of this year was adopted.
The proposal for an innovative list of national priorities in the fight against organized and serious crime, which includes nine areas, was also adopted.
"The list includes the following areas - activities of high-risk organized criminal groups, drug trafficking, corruption with a special focus on high-level corruption, illegal migration and human trafficking, smuggling of excise goods, cybercrime, terrorism and extremism," the statement said.
As it is added, among the priorities is the fight against violence and misuse of firearms, as well as the new national priority of environmental crime, as a specific security challenge in Montenegro.
The Council emphasized that environmental crime during the previous period through the expansion of illegal activities in the areas of forest cutting, illegal construction and illegal exploitation of gravel from riverbeds, along with accompanying corrupt activities, caused not only economic, but also major environmental problems.
Those environmental problems, according to them, had a significant impact on the devastation of the environment and the state of biodiversity.
The announcement states that, in addition to the members of the Council, the session was attended by invitation by Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović, Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković, Chief of the Prime Minister's Cabinet Branko Krvavac, Prime Minister's Adviser on Defense and Security Todor Goranović.
The session was also attended by the Director of the Police Administration, Zoran Brđanin, and Acting Assistant Director of the Sector for Fighting Crime, Lazar Šćepanović.
"The council also considered a number of other issues and adopted several conclusions from its jurisdiction," the announcement states.
