Minister of Justice Bojan Božović said that they canceled the decision of the previous minister Andrej Milović on the non-extradition of Turkish citizen Binali Camgoz to Turkey.
He said that the extradition of Camgoz was discussed yesterday at the session of the Security Council and it was stated that Camgoz is a threat to internal and national security. He stated that the conclusion of the National Security Council suggests to the Ministry of Justice to consider this case once again, which, he says, required its immediate reaction.
"I know there will be various speculations, but I want to state a few facts. It was very strange to me that it was said in public that a decision could not be canceled or modified, and there were such cases, for example in Italy. When making the decision, I had in the form of a letter from Turkey stating that this person will not be treated inhumanely," said Božović.
He said that the European Court of Human Rights also stated that in Turkey there are conditions for the unhindered serving of sentences for persons with even 93 percent of disabilities.
He pointed out that all the judicial instances of the country suggested to the Ministry of Justice to act like this.
"The decision is final, not subject to appeal," added Božović.
Minister of the Interior Danilo Saranović reminded that Camgoza is wanted by Turkey for a number of criminal offences.
According to the Turkish media, Camgoz's criminal record includes various crimes - murder, wounding, kidnapping, detention, extortion and torture committed in Izmir and its surroundings, illegal collection of checks and bonds... Camgoz's cell in Spuz was searched a few days after the police Turkey determined that members of his criminal clan participated in the murder of the absolute leader of the Skaljar clan Jovan Vukotić in Turkey in September 2022.
"In January, the MUP rejected this person's request for international protection. His defense attorneys appealed, but the decision of the MUP was confirmed by the Administrative Court. I emphasize that in this way we are strengthening the international reputation of the state and the security system as a whole," Šaranović said.
He pointed out that this action is a confirmation of the never better cooperation of the security authorities in Montenegro.
Assistant Director of the Police Directorate for Combating Crime Lazar Šćepanović reminded that a red Interpol warrant was issued for Camgozem for serious criminal offenses in the field of organized crime.
"This is a person who, according to the records of the police of Montenegro and Turkey, is treated as high-risk, that is, the leader of an organized criminal group that operates in Turkey and who has established a collaborative network with organized criminal groups on the territory of Montenegro," Šćepanović said. that Montenegro will be safe and will not be a haven for criminal groups.
He states that Čamgoz was effectively extradited to Turkey with strong security measures.
According to "Vijesti" information, the plane sent by Turkey to Camgoza took off shortly before the start of the press conference. His extradition was secured by about 40 police officers and employees of the National Security Agency.
When asked by journalists why the director of the Police Administration, Zoran Brđanin, was not present at the press conference tonight, Šaranović replied that there was a person (Šćepanović) who was involved in these activities all the time even when Brđanin was not in office. He also said that Brđanin is familiar with the activities.
The press conference from the Government building was broadcast by the Movement Europe Sad on its Instagram profile.
