The Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Podgorica filed an indictment against the suspects in the "Tunel" case, "Vijesti" learns.
All the accused were arrested and suspected in that case except for Ivica Piperović.
The depot of the High Court in Podgorica was broken into on September 8, 2023, and the thieves stole material evidence stored in that room until September 11, it was established by the investigation of the Podgorica prosecutor's office and the police. The investigators discovered that the underground tunnel, through which the thieves entered the court depot, had been dug since the end of July.
According to the same information, the investigation has so far determined that during that period they entered the premises of the depot, in which they inspected and ransacked several things and objects in which court proceedings are being conducted or have been completed, but also that they ransacked the locked office in which finds a weapon. 19 weapons were stolen.
The ODT also accuses Predrag Mirotić, Katarina Baćović, Nikola Milačić, as well as Serbian citizens Veljko Marković, Milan Marković, Dejan Jovanović and Eric, of participating in that criminal enterprise.
Marijan Vuljaj is suspected of helping Baćović to hide.
One of Piperović's defense attorneys, lawyer Stefan Jovanović, told the News that he and his colleague Zoran Piperović have not yet received the decision of the acting prosecutor.
"The defense has not yet received the decision of the acting prosecutor related to the case in question, but if your statements are correct, the defense points out that the decision to suspend the proceedings in relation to Ivica Piperović is legal and the only one possible, that is, expected. Therefore, such a decision confirms the defense's position that Piperović Ivica had absolutely nothing to do with the event in question, i.e. the event known as 'The Tunnel.' first of all, an apology to his children, and then to his family, because of all that he suffered during the procedure itself," said Jovanović.
He pointed out that the defense does not question the fact that the defendant Vladimir Erić will be proven innocent during the proceedings: "Although, of course, that is not the duty of the defense".
"The defense has no doubt that his innocence will be proven, especially if it is taken into account that the courts, when considering custody control, have already determined that there is no reasonable doubt that the defendant Vladimir Erić committed the criminal acts for which he is charged, and I note once again that it is a foreign citizen whose detention was lifted without any restrictions, which speaks for itself," he said.
Lawyer Piperović said that he expected such an outcome, but he also referred to the statements of former Prime Minister Dritan Abazović and former Minister of Internal Affairs Filip Adžić, given after the arrest in the "Tunel" case.
"Because it was clear from the first day for everyone who even has an understanding of criminal matters. Of course, Dritan (Abazović) also understands criminal matters, but this time he missed a bit, so I use the opportunity to greet him and Filip Adzić." said Piperovic.
ODT Podgorica has officially announced that six persons (VM, MM, DJ, VE, PM, NM) have been indicted before the Basic Court in Podgorica for the criminal offense of criminal association in conjunction with the criminal offense of aggravated theft, and against one person ( KB) due to the criminal offense of criminal association in conjunction with criminal offenses of aggravated theft in complicity and falsification of a document.
An indictment was brought against MV for the criminal offense of assisting the perpetrator after the crime had been committed.
"An order was issued against one person (IP) to suspend the investigation due to the criminal offenses of criminal conspiracy in connection with the criminal offense of aggravated theft and prevention of evidence. During the search of the depot of the High Court in Podgorica, eleven mobile phones were unlawfully confiscated and appropriated, as well as nineteen pieces of firearms of weapons, of which eleven firearms are from legally concluded cases, while the remaining eight firearms are from cases that are still pending before the High Court in Podgorica. Also, a small amount of narcotic drugs, marijuana, heroin and cocaine, were seized. from three legally concluded cases and two cases that are still pending before the High Court in Podgorica," the announcement states.
